GUIDELINES FOR RELEASING NEW WAIATA
Each Artist is responsible for delivering and pitching their digital single to all Digital Service Providers (DSPs) via their label or distributor.
For independent artists without a distributor, please see below for further guidelines.
We recommend you deliver your single & pitched to DSPs at least 2 weeks prior to single release date.
We’ve created WAIATA ANTHEMS playlists across Spotify, Apple Music & YouTube. If you would like your waiata added, please fill in the following form HERE.
All WAIATA ANTHEMS logos and design guidelines are available HERE.
Guidelines for independent artists without a distributor:
Contact Recorded Music NZ to obtain an International Standard Recording Code (ISRC) for the waiata + registration within the direct-to-artist scheme to ensure you collect broadcast & public performance royalties as both the artist & owner of your waiata:
Find a digital distributor to manage the delivery of your waiata to digital music platforms i.e. Spotify, Apple, YouTube, Amazon etc. You may already have a relationship with a label/distributor but if not please read the resource provided by the NZ Music Commission HERE before you make your choice.
Below is a list of some digital distributors used by artists/labels here in Aotearoa:
Please note: This list is just a small sample of distributors available. For further options see Spotify's preferred provider list: artists.spotify.com/directory/distribution
Once you choose your distributor you will need to supply the master recording, ISRC, cover artwork as well as background information regarding the song, eg songwriters, producers, publisher, etc
